GENERATOR ENGINE LINE

GRG designed and manufactured a turnkey assembly line for a Generator Engine Line serving the general industry small engine sector. Spanning 9 months, this initiative aimed to build 34 variants of small engines through a combination of manual and automatic stations, achieving a remarkable throughput of 90 jobs per hour. The project featured operator visualization screens for assembly instructions and cycle time management, along with a floor-mounted overhead unload area supported by a bridge and rail system. Each engine variant was fully assembled and tested in-process, utilizing a communized pallet base with interchangeable color-coded fixture details tailored for eight different product families.
This undertaking resulted in a significant GRG advantage, marked by a large reduction in customer callbacks, enhanced efficiency through improved throughput, and the successful completion of the project on budget and on time. Notably, the integration of automation reduced the number of operators from 96 to just 47, further demonstrating the project's commitment to optimizing production efficiency and operational effectiveness.
